Iaido is a system of martial and meditative training loosely translated as: "the way of harmony in action".
Iaido is practiced using a Japanese sword, and based upon the immediate and efficient response to a
surprise attack - which is a metaphor for a composed and relaxed response to any unexpected challenge
in life.
Iaido practice resembles a quiet moving meditation, with emphasis on breathing and balance,
awareness and composure. The ultimate aim of Iaido is to achieve victory while the sword remains
un-drawn. This means today's victory over the self of yesterday - and tomorrow's victory over the
